FORD explorer and the explorers club have been invited to the 2017 Bridgestone Classic Car Challenge in Australia, with the two brands expected to be the winners.
The new entry, the Gibson Explorer, will compete against the Mercedes SLS AMG GTE, Ford Falcon, Toyota Camry, Honda Civic Type R and Nissan Leaf.
“We have a very strong team and we are excited to be back at Bridgestones Classic Car Race with a brand like FORD and the other entries,” said FORD brand manager and vice president of global motorsport, Matt Hockenberry.
Ford is currently the world’s second-biggest automaker with a fleet of more than 50,000 cars and trucks.
The company will also be competing against its biggest rival, General Motors, at the event.
Gibson will also compete in the 2018 Mazda MX-5 MX-4 World Rallycross Championship in Australia.
With the Ford Falcon and Toyota Camrys, Toyota has now taken the number two spot in the list of the most popular brands in Australia and the U.S., according to data from car and hire company JB Hire.
Hocken Berry said the FORD car is the latest entry in the Gibson Classic Car Series and was developed for the event, which began in 2015.
For the 2016 Bridgestoned Classic Car Races, Gibson had a total of four entries.
While there are currently four cars in the new entry and six entries in the 2017 edition, Ford has a total total of 22 Ford Falcon vehicles and five Toyota Camries.
